Initially I welcomed and encouraged the Council to consider residents’ parking zones. The idea seemed to provide an answer to many concerns people in my ward had regarding parking and I was pleased to represent their views.
However, after closely examining similar parking zones in Bristol, there are some real issues. Many Bristol residents are now very unhappy with the system and would like it removed. In addition, burdening people with additional parking costs through this system is certainly not right.
In my view we need to do more to assist and support Central ward residents with parking in a way that won’t cost them a significant amount of money.
