Zero Tolerance on Dog Fouling

Central Ward Councillor Richard Nightingale says, “most dog owners are very conscientious and community minded people and don’t let their dogs foul the pavement. In my experience there is a very small number of owners who are responsible for such problems, but the reality is that this minority are causing the majority of issues. For those law abiding owners we need more bins and for those who break the law, I welcome that the Council is due to adopt a zero tolerance policy, which I have repeatedly campaigned for. Residents have suffered with this problem now for many years and in those years many different solutions have been trialed without huge success, However because it’s a difficult issue to resolve, we must not just accept the situation. Robust enforcement and ticketing in a zero tolerance atmosphere, aimed a people acting illegally must now be a priority.
